Thomas Averette Spivey, Sr. 73, of Cuthbert, died at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday April 2, 2013 at Lunsford Funeral Home with the Dr. Bruce Pittman and Dr. David Seyle officiating. Interment to follow in East View Cemetery in Cuthbert.

Mr. Spivey was born July 14, 1939 in Wayne County, NC the son of the late Averette and Melba Sutton Spivey. he was a retired Transportation-Loss Control and Safety Specialist for GEMI Trucking. He was a member of Shellman First Baptist Church.  He graduated High School  in Wayne County Goldsboro, NC and attended Campbell College in Buies Creek NC,the  Southern School of Pharmacy in Atlanta, Ga and Graduated Atlanta Law School with a Juris Doctor Degree.

Survivors include his wife Sandra Paul Spivey of Cuthbert, 2 sons; Thomas Averette Spivey, Jr. (Sonya) of Meridian MS, Russell Todd Spivey (Shelley) of Warner Robins, Ga. 2 daughters; Lisa Spivey Jakubas (Ron) of Lighthouse Point, FL, Paula Spivey Oxyer (Todd) Perry, Ga. A sister; Carole Spivey Anchondo, Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga., 9 Grandchildren  and was preceded in death by a sister Nancy S. Mathews.

Visitation will be Monday April 1, 2013 from 6 PM -8 PM at Lunsford Funeral Home.
