Watson General Evans, Jr. of Shellman, Georgia, passed away on April 6, 2025, at the age of 74. After a long fight with cancer, Watson passed away at his home surrounded by family and friends.

He was born at Camp Lejeune in Onslow County, North Carolina on August 5, 1950, to Betty Isabell Monroe and Watson General Evans, Sr. After high school, Watson took classes at Georgia Southwestern University in Americus, Georgia before enlisting in the Navy. Watson spent four years serving his country. After leaving the service, he went on to work several jobs until he settled on becoming a long-haul driver for Estes Express Lines. Watson had many passions including deep sea fishing, boating, skiing, and cooking… earning himself the nickname of Betty Vila because his cooking skills rivaled his "fix-it" abilities.

Watson is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kay Hamilton Evans, his son, Patrick Hamilton Evans, his daughter, India Ewing Evans, and his grandson, Brantlee Watson Baker, all of Shellman, Georgia. Also surviving is his sister, Patty Duncan of McDonough, Ga, his brother, Robert (Debbie) Evans of Lebanon, TN, sister-in-law, Mona Evans of Leesburg, Ga and numerous nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his parents and his brothers, Alan Evans of Leesburg, Ga, David Evans of Leslie, Ga and a sister, Jeannie Scarborough of Slocomb, Al.

There will be a graveside memorial service conducted at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, in Eastview Cemetery in Shellman, Ga with the Rev. Andy Blankenship officiating.
