Obituary
Robert Atlas Hester, 85, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023, in St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA. Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 9, 2023, in the Cuthbert United Methodist Church with Rev. Ivelisse Quinones and Rev. Thad Haygood officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 PM until service time in the church.
Atlas was born on March 27, 1938, in Eufaula, AL the son of the Late Robert Lee and Marion Louise Brown Hester. He attended Auburn for 2 years before receiving his Electrical Engineer Degree from Georgia Tech University. He was a member of the Cuthbert United Methodist Church where he served as a Trustee. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Robert Gray “Rob” Hester.
Survivors include his wife Evelyn Yarbrough Hester of Cuthbert, 2 sons, John Michael (Sharon) Hester of Treasure Island, FL and Stephen Barry (Mary) of Cuthbert, a brother, David Daniel (Cassandra) Hester of Rockvale, TN, 2 grandchildren, Mindy Lynn Hester Brooks and Michael Gray Hester both of Bradenton, FL and a great granddaughter, Nadia Michelle Brooks of Tampa, FL.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cuthbert United Methodist Church P. O. Box 449 Cuthbert, GA 39840.
