GERALD BRAXTON LAYTON

Gerald Braxton Layton, 84, of Lumpkin, GA died on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, in the Four County Health and Rehabilitation in Richland, GA. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 3, 2021, in the North Side Cemetery in Lumpkin with Rev. Raymond Smith officiating.

Mr. Layton was born on October 4, 1936, in Brantley, AL the son of the late J. C. and Voncile Mills Layton. He was a graduate of Brantley High School, and member of the Lumpkin First Baptist Church and retired from operating Layton Logging. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, boating and all sports including the Atlanta Braves, GA Bulldogs and NASCAR. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Carolyn Thomas Layton, a sister, Olivia Layton and a brother, Bill Layton.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Cyndi (Ward) Layton of Tampa, FL and Lori (Brad) Stovall of Lumpkin, GA, a son, Jerry (Karen) Layton of Evergreen, AL, grandchildren, Kara Layton, Davis Layton. Ashton Raines (Taylor) Barham, Michael Raines, Leanna Layton, Sam Layton, Bailee Stovall (Trey) Smith and Kinsey Stovall (Jay) McBroom a great grandchild, Adeline and several Nieces and nephews.
