MARGARET ELIZABETH JACKSON

Margaret Elizabeth Jackson, 90, of Buchannan, GA passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, surrounded by her family and friends in The Tanner Medical Center in Carrolton, GA. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the Calvary Baptist Church in Dawson with Interment to follow in Cuthbert Eastview Cemetery. Rev. Allen Sanders, Jack Harris and Jeffery Harris will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 until funeral time in the Church.

Memaw, Mom, Sis, Aunt Sis or Mrs. Jackson was born on August 25, 1933, in Cuthbert, GA the daughter of the late John Thomas Elder and the late Dora Elizabeth Saxon. She was a military wife and lived in many different places before settling in Dawson, GA. She worked at Dawson Super Market for many years, followed by the Western Auto Store and was the manager at the Oak Lawn Motel. She also worked at the Dawson First Baptist Church nursery for many years and was very proud of her nursery babies. She followed them through life and kept up with them on Facebook. She enjoyed playing bingo for many years. Her favorite pass time was Facebook because she kept up with family and friends. In the past few years, Facebook was her door to the outside world. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John S. Jackson, brothers, Sam Elder, James Elder, Thomas Elder and Billy Elder, and her sisters, Emma Sue St. Denis and Patsy Ann Ingram.

Survivors include her son, Ricky Jackson, daughter, Rita (Jeff) Herrin, sister, Ruth Jackson, brother, Leonard Elder, honorary children, Beth Watts, Janie (John) Wilborn, Sharon (Stephen) Davis, Roger Harris, John (Trixie) Harris, and Jack (Maria) Harris, grandchildren, Daniel (Angelica) Harris, Dena (Josh) Hines, J J Harris, Brandie (Ryan) McAdams, Jeffery (Jenny) Herrin, Sam Herrin, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
