Patricia Bentley Smith, 82, of Shellman, GA passed away peacefully surrounded by her children and grandchildren on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Willson Hospice House in Albany following a brief illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 8, 2023, in the Rehoboth Baptist Church near Shellman with Rev. Joe Poitevint officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born on December 22, 1940, in Shellman, the daughter to the late James Fred Bentley and the late Myrtle Holloway Bentley. She was a Homemaker, member of the Rehoboth Baptist Church and attended ABAC in Tifton. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Philip Thomas Smith, a daughter, Terri Ann Smith and two sons-in-law, Sonny Nelson and Joe Cartwright.
Survivors include two sons, Max (Kim) Smith of Leesburg and Tom (Cyndi) Smith of Shellman, two daughters, Lisa (Sonny) Nelson of Leesburg and Sherri (Joe) Cartwright of Shellman. She was a wonderful grandmother to 7 grandchildren, Jimmy Smith of Thomasville, Whitney (Josh) Wilson of Shellman, Cory Cartwright of Buford, Hillary (Ryan) Martin of Dawson, Jackson Smith of Cincinnati, Kaylie Smith of Shellman and TJ Smith of Shellman, Grandma Tricia, as she was known to so many, enjoyed her 9 great grandchildren, Emma Parker, Ava Parker, Caden Smith, Meredith Wilson, Nathan Parker, Grayson Smith, Noah Wilson, Bentley Martin and Jensen Smith. Mrs. Smith is also survived by her brother, Freddie Bentley of Cuthbert, her niece, but more of a daughter, Kelli (Scott) Langford of Shellman and great niece, Lindsey Langford and great nephew, Drew (Lane) Langford and her trusted caretaker and friend, Elaine Brown.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family will gather at the family home at 84 East Railroad Street, Shellman and a visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 until 5:30 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Willson Hospice House at 320 Foundation Lane Albany, GA 31707.
